Tasting Notes: Pears. peaches and pineapples.
Suitable for: Filter and espresso
SCA Score: 86
Since we waved goodbye to our first Kenyan coffee (the famed Rukira AB), we've been looking for something good enough to take its place. We're really pleased with this coffee and think it steps up to the plate nicely.
The SCA gave this washed coffee a score of 86, and we think it makes a fantastic V60 or cafetiere without much effort. This coffee has a nice sweetness to it, and it's redolent of pears and peaches. I have caught a hint of black tea right at the end at times, but it is very subtle. In espresso there's also some juicy pineapples to look out for. I'm drinking a V60 as a write this, and I'm struck by the gentle acidity and the light mouthfeel. Once I've finished sipping the flavour lingers nicely, and I find myself reaching for the carafe.
It's a lovely, easy-drinking coffee. Perfect for an afternoon boost, and sure to put a smile on your face.
