What a fantastic name! Albert is a second-generation coffee farmer, and he and his parents live at the farm and manage their 1.5 hectares of coffee. The farm is planted with various different varieties, all mixed together, but they are mostly caturra, bourbon and typicas. Albert picks and processes his coffee the same day, it is fermented for around 24 hours before being washed clean and dried on a lined patio.
Gareth picks out quite vibrant acidity in espresso: orange to begin with, and then the sort of punchy, lip-smacking acidity you get from biting into pink grapefruit. There is a hint of kiwi lurking in there, which is a note picked out by our partners at Falcon Speciality Coffee.
As a filter this mellows out quite a lot, leaving you with a sweet brew that brings vanilla and muscovado sugar to mind.
